©  Irene Baron   This digital aerial photo is of underwater oolitic sandbanks off the island of Bimini. It looks hazy because of the water depth. Shadows of the clouds appear on the water. This was taken with a Canon EOS D60. All my originals are shot at RAW.

Irene Baron, owner of Aerial View Pictures, is an experienced photographer and pilot.

As former Director of Aerial Photography for the Mekong River Project with Battelle Memorial Institute, under contract with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, she used the U.S. Government Sikorski helicopters for oblique views and twin engine fixed wing aircraft with permanent mount cameras for higher elevation vertical photography. Her work during the Mt. St. Helens Project under the direction of Portland State University & the National Science Foundation used commercial helicopters.  Aerial photography in Ohio is usually taken from fixed wing aircraft (Cessna 150/172, Piper Cub/Cherokee 140/Arrow and Bonanza).

She has created aerial photography documentaries of historical landmarks, churches, buildings and businesses in Ohio.  Her aerial photography of the four National Flags and National Flag Truck are on display at the National Flag Museum in Massachusetts.  A 4’x8’ mural of the national award winning National Flags aerial photograph (Smithsonian 2004) will become a wall display at the entrance of the museum.

Ms. Baron displays her groundwork at various art exhibitions in Ohio, specializing in minerals.

Cameras commonly used are Canon Eos D60, Canon Eos Rebel, and Canon Rebel Ti.  Processing is completed using Photoshop CS. Favorite lens is the 62mm Tamron 28-200.

Ms. Baron has a BA in Science, MA in Educational Administration, and many years of study in the arts, including the Ohio Arts Council.
